Spaceship/Sci-fi ATLA AU

It's my first comment on DW :)

This was supposed to be an all-ships week story, but they just talk too much :)
On the other hand, there are still a few days left, so...
It’s a part of my Spaceship/Sci-fi ATLA AU. A side story, not related to the main events. The ship is Ozai and Azula, father-daughter relationship.

Azula lifts her head and meets his eyes. “Do you... do you remember something? From the other futures?”

Ozai doesn’t answer right away, he needs to calm his heartbeat, though he knows she’s sensing everything. He has no intention of letting her out of his arms.

“Every second,” he finally says. “Every breath, every heartbeat. All the pain, and suffering and cruelty and evilness,” he admits.

She winces. “How can you... live? Because you live, you don’t only stay alive. You... love.”

Spirits, she’s only fourteen, how can she be so perceptive?

“This is how,” he whispers. “Love is the only way. The only answer, child.”

The silence is long. And then...

“So, he also remembers?”

Oooh, the fact that there are other futures, plural, gives me chills, especially when Ozai says that he remembers "Every second, every breath, every heartbeat"... That alone sounds incredibly overwhelming for just one lifetime, let alone two or more c': And love being the answer for how he goes on rather than just survive 🙏 So nice.

SVSSS: Yue Qingyuan and SJ!Shen Qingqiu 🥰 I'm so close to finishing this one. This snippet comes right before the one I shared on discord.
Awareness comes back to [Yue Qingyuan] in stages.

Fingertips itching with receding numbness. Tension abating, muscles aching. Cool energy moving within his meridians.

Two hands pressed firmly against his back, and a voice:

“If you die here and they’ll fault me for this—”

A heavy sigh leaves him, his head drops forward.

“—Qingyuan?”

“I won’t die.”

Ooooh! 👏👏👏 That gave me chills! Absolutely love that SJ is worried about being blamed (or at least giving that as an excuse for having emotions).

Thank you <333 I might have gotten a bit heavy-handed with it (SJ using the 'somebody is going to blame me for this crime' notion for any kind of human emotion, really) in this short oneshot, but I love every instance and I'm affectionately keeping them all <3 I'm glad the intention behind it is shining through!
