This week's word is...
cozy

How to play: Find the word in any WIP and comment with the sentence containing it. Just the one, ideally! The less context, the more hilarious & interesting it can be.

Rules:
- All fandoms, all ships, all writers welcome
- Give a head's up for disturbing/distressing content
- If you share a sentence, please read some left by other writers and drop at least one person a comment. (If you leave the first comment, thanks for starting us off, and we hope you'll pop back around later!)

I honestly forgot I wrote this! Kazuha is interviewing for a barista position and is answering the classic "Why do you want to work here?" question.

Kazuha had rehearsed this answer. “I’ve always had a passion for coffee. My dad worked in a cafĂ© for a long time, and I guess I inherited my love of coffee from him. I also just really love how cozy this place is. It looks like you facilitate an attitude where everyone feels welcome and accepted the moment they walk in. I felt it the first time I came in here; this feels like a place I would be proud to work in. As an amputee, there are rarely places that cater to us, and I feel like this place does, even if indirectly. There’s a lot of accessible seating, and the material the floor is made of is easy to walk on, if that makes sense.”

I think Kazuha really wants this job because this answer is really thoughtful!

She's a very thoughtful and observant person, for sure! Her answers were a combination of desire, hope, and a little desperation after being unemployed for a year. It worked though, since she got the job.

I certainly relate to that as a disabled (autistic, to be specific) with a job (even if it's a volunteer one) - that's why I participate in events dedicated to giving the disabled the opportunities, accessibility and equal footing with the non-disabled ones in my war-torn home country.

That's great! I'm glad you found it relatable :))

Kazuha BETTER get the position because she killed it! And I love the mention of accessible seating, something so important and often glossed over in many shops and cafes. Also a cozy cafe is always a good choice!

Back then, the Doppelganger's place was in the service of the late "Empress" and of the Empire. She was created for one purpose only: to aid in the spread of the Red Terror to the world, and to kill her template. She's never taken the time to enjoy the rare coziness of the environment she's raised in; it was repressive, intrusive, and was stained with the "one wrong move and you're bound to be horrifically tortured" mentality — an end product of Natla's [THE EMPRESS] tyrannical paranoia. She's only used for two things: to be just another pawn (rather ironic, given how she's called Lara a "swallow" due to her also being a pawn), and as a meat shield to the horrors the Empire's wrought in tandem with the Grand Hunt's own horrors.

Now, as she listens to her alive template carefully plucking the strings of a bandura to harmonize with her humming, Yulia realizes something: her new place in the world is being by Lara's side.

What a beautiful moment they share!
(And I share with them :)

I like how Yulia reframes her place in the world now that she's with Lara. The fact that she's had a tough past is contrasted by the present. The fact that the Red Terror offered no respite, but Lara does. Such a cool detail!

Grateful for that! I'm primarily basing Doppelganger/Yulia's suffering on how totalitarian governments (primarily the USSR and its successor state, russia) throw their knowledgeable and best workers (even those who are the most devout to said totalitarian regimes' crimes) on the chopping block if they dare to not follow the program in the most perfect way. Since I hail from a country that's hit the hardest by the USSR's most horrific actions, and later by russia with its full-scale invasion (Ukraine), I've found myself very fascinated with the Doppelganger's canon story - how would she break the cycle of dictatorship permanently, even if she'd come out of it mentally scarred for years, if not decades?

I love to follow this story through your snippets here and it's honestly so wholesome how far they came :'''') Yulia you deserve a real life and I'm glad she's finding peace in a new, peaceful world even if it's hard to deprogramm from all that.

It's my Spaceship/Sci-fi ATLA AU

“Hey,” Suki says and walks toward the table to put the Fire Lily she’s just purchased into a vase. Smiling warmly, she caresses the velvety petals with her fingertips. Azula glances at the flower and also smiles. Suki knows that her friend loves Fire Lilies and their room on board the Southern Lights–the most advanced spaceship ever created by the Water Tribes–doesn’t feel ‘home’ and cozy unless there is Azula’s favorite flower sharing the space with them.

Awww! This is super cute! Suki knowing that the place doesn't quite feel like "home" without the fire lilies Azula likes. You wouldn't normally think of flowers as making a space feel cozy, but it's super thoughtful that Suki realizes that Azula thinks they do and buys one for the room.

I have a friend who does exactly that at her home for her family and I stole this idea from her :)

first of all, a sci-fi ATLA AU sounds SO COOL and I like the details in this paragraph, with the Fire Lillies relating to the Fire element and all. A simple scene about flowers can tell a lot about a well thought world and I can tell you put a lot of thought in it!

I created this universe for the fandom-smashup and I love playing with the characters there.
I am also not good with details, so I'm so happy that it worked in the end :)

Oooh I absolutely love this! The sensory detail with the petals is such a nice touch too.

The scene that follows is not easy for them, so I needed to start it in a peaceful way and it seems it worked! :)
