This week's word is...
cozy

How to play: Find the word in any WIP and comment with the sentence containing it. Just the one, ideally! The less context, the more hilarious & interesting it can be.

Rules:
- All fandoms, all ships, all writers welcome
- Give a head's up for disturbing/distressing content
- If you share a sentence, please read some left by other writers and drop at least one person a comment. (If you leave the first comment, thanks for starting us off, and we hope you'll pop back around later!)

Back then, the Doppelganger's place was in the service of the late "Empress" and of the Empire. She was created for one purpose only: to aid in the spread of the Red Terror to the world, and to kill her template. She's never taken the time to enjoy the rare coziness of the environment she's raised in; it was repressive, intrusive, and was stained with the "one wrong move and you're bound to be horrifically tortured" mentality — an end product of Natla's [THE EMPRESS] tyrannical paranoia. She's only used for two things: to be just another pawn (rather ironic, given how she's called Lara a "swallow" due to her also being a pawn), and as a meat shield to the horrors the Empire's wrought in tandem with the Grand Hunt's own horrors.

Now, as she listens to her alive template carefully plucking the strings of a bandura to harmonize with her humming, Yulia realizes something: her new place in the world is being by Lara's side.

What a beautiful moment they share!
(And I share with them :)

I like how Yulia reframes her place in the world now that she's with Lara. The fact that she's had a tough past is contrasted by the present. The fact that the Red Terror offered no respite, but Lara does. Such a cool detail!

Grateful for that! I'm primarily basing Doppelganger/Yulia's suffering on how totalitarian governments (primarily the USSR and its successor state, russia) throw their knowledgeable and best workers (even those who are the most devout to said totalitarian regimes' crimes) on the chopping block if they dare to not follow the program in the most perfect way. Since I hail from a country that's hit the hardest by the USSR's most horrific actions, and later by russia with its full-scale invasion (Ukraine), I've found myself very fascinated with the Doppelganger's canon story - how would she break the cycle of dictatorship permanently, even if she'd come out of it mentally scarred for years, if not decades?

I love to follow this story through your snippets here and it's honestly so wholesome how far they came :'''') Yulia you deserve a real life and I'm glad she's finding peace in a new, peaceful world even if it's hard to deprogramm from all that.
