happy 8th anniversary!

On this day in 2018, while driving to work, I had the idea of a little hashtag game for fic writers. There were plenty of these for original fiction, but I felt awkward participating as a fic writer and figured I wasn't the only one. We started that same afternoon as a "what are you working on?" hashtag event on Wednesdays that expanded to a Q&A, moved to Saturdays, moved to Sundays, and eventually went on hiatus when we launched the event series.

I didn't imagine we'd grow beyond the hashtag game, certainly didn't expect we'd be hanging out eight years later. To everyone who has been here since the start, and to everyone we've met along the way, thanks for making fandom a little brighter!

Happy eight years! I learned of #ficwip just last year, and while I don't participate in community much as I'm shy, I enjoy word game Wednesdays, as well as the events that occur throughout the year. Hope you guys continue on for many years more 💞
