Yuri backed away. She looked at Kitty’s dress. “I knew the sleeves would be too long for you. I wish I had time to fix it before the party.”

Kitty tugged at her sleeve. The embroidered flowers started itching her skin after a while. Yuri knew her mannerisms in a way Min Ho didn’t. She saw how uncomfortable she looked wearing the dress, even from a distance. Min Ho didn’t notice from less than a meter away.

“You know how to alter clothes?” Kitty asked.

Yuri smiled. “I work for a fashion designer.”

“You got a job?”

“Well, I can’t use the Hans’ money anymore, can I?”

“Sun-jin would never let that happen, that bastard.”

A nice interaction. We have an unstated realization as Kitty compares how well Yuri and Min Ho know her, and also we have the underlying drama and conflict that led Yuri to have to find a job. Very interesting and intriguing.

You got it! Yuri's family got sued, which led her taking a side against her dad, essentially forcing her to get a job. A point of conflict is how Kitty compares the actions of Min Ho and Yuri throughout the fic, coming to the realization that Min Ho is ultimately not the right choice.

Aww! I'm glad! Yuri being an assistant to a up and coming fashion designer is a big point in the fic that is based in canon information available for season 3 of XO, Kitty (coming in Q1 2026, hopefully). Since the fic is an imagining of season 3/4, I hoped to stay faithful to that prediction.

haha! "The grass needs fertillizing" gives the perfect amount of levity for this dramatic argument. I wonder who these two characters are. Seems like sports players of some type? They also seem quite close to have this sort of dynamic. Would love to see the actual pistol fight these two are on about. What a fun bit of dialogue!

The redhead yelps upon feeling her template grab her by the shirt and pull her into a strong hug. She barely has time to reciprocate it, hands clumsily running around her coat's silky texture, before she clutches onto it as tightly as she can.

"Yulia…" Lara says, sighing. "With all those seven years, how can I even say no to such a proposal?"

"Is that a—"

"Yes, Yulia," she says shakily, tears of joy in her eyes, "I will marry you."

Yulia laughs heartily with a delighted grin. "I know I might've spent some money on hunting a fitting ring for this moment, but—"

She's cut off by a lingering kiss from her template, and Yulia is more than eager to return it. By the time the two break it, they let their foreheads touch each other.

It's worth it, indeed.

Ah, it's always a delight to know that! Anyway, the gist is: Lara Croft is an avid adventurer who has... plenty of issues, shall we say, (I'm definitely not playing armchair psychologist, but I'm very fascinated with going into a character's head to see how their trauma affects them) primarily PTSD (stemming from parental abandonment and witnessing a lot of the horrors in her adventures).

Doppelganger (or Yulia, as I call her in my fics, after The HARDKISS vocalist Julia Sanina) is Lara's clone who's artificially created by an emotionally abusive, spiteful, quasi-immortal ex-queen of Atlantis named "Jacqueline" Natla as a weapon against Lara (she hates her this much). But Lara manages to free her clone from the "Ohk eshivar" command, and Doppelganger/Yulia subsequently kills Natla. However, having a severely abusive mother figure like Natla for so long is bound to leave heavily emotional scars for someone like Doppelganger...

Bato reaches for a notepad and a pen that is lying on the kitchen counter.

“I like it the old fashioned way. This is my shopping list, if you need anything just write it down, okay?”

She looks at the list that has already a few items written on it, “Okay, when am I supposed to go shopping? Before my classes or in the evenings?”

Bato shakes his head. “No, I will be doing the shopping, for you have no driving license yet and this stuff is usually heavy.”

“I see. Okay.” She looks at the list for a while in silence. “Sir?”

“Yes?”

“I – I don’t have money to pay for the room,” she admits. “And... and I will not have.”

For a long moment he looks at her and then he says, “Suki, you’ve just offered to do all the chores I usually do here.”

“But this is just a division of responsibilities which the rules of coexistence require. What I mean is that you will have higher bills for electricity, water, garbage collection fees... and others, while I’m living here.”

“I understand your concern. We will discuss it tomorrow, is that okay? I didn’t expect to have a roommate, so I have to think about it.”

And it wasn’t like Sinclair hated this job, on the contrary, he did enjoy it. It might be odd to an outsider, but not like he had people he was close to now. On weekdays he worked in a store and on weekends here, there wasn’t much for him to do or go out anywhere. He knew no one, so no one would judge his choice. He was mostly visited by men here, which he did prefer, but women did come at times, often surprised by him just working there. It was an odd thing, coming to a brothel with purpose to pay someone for sex only to be surprised by the fact they were doing just that.

Maybe it was the expectation that this was a ‘woman’s job’, however odd that sounded to him. He didn’t see why it would be odd, work was work at the end of the day. The cashier work would not be enough for his apartment, so it was the best way to not run out of money and also have something saved up. At some point, if he was able to get additional education, he’d be able to have some classes, maybe get a better job than a store worker. This would allow him to do that, he couldn’t hate something that was helping him, much more than the retail work did too.
